Positive Behavior Support

PBS FISH FOCUS

PBS FISH FOCUS is a character building theme for each month. Teachers will integrate lessons related to the FISH FOCUS to help improve our school-wide positive behavior efforts. Teachers may also share this focus in their weekly newsletter with parents so that they too can reinforce this lesson.

The PBS FISH FOCUS will be displayed in the cafeteria above the fish mural. In addition, Ms. Tammy has been sharing positive character traits with students on the morning broadcast. Check out our PBS Kindness Connection, as we share activities that parents can do with their child(ren) at home.

October's Fish Focus:

"I will practice self-control. "

The Ten Principles of Positive Discipline

  1. Positive discipline demands that you know your child.
  2. Postive discipline demands that you know how children develop.
  3. Positive discipline holds adults accountable as models of appropriate behaviors.
  4. Positive discipline demands adults maintain self-control.
  5. Positive discipline demands that you see the world from your child's point of view.
  6. Positive discipline asks that we clearly and assertively communicate what we want children to do.
  7. Positive discipline uses "discipline" to teach.
  8. Positive discipline demands that we be in relationship with our child.
  9. Positive discipline looks for solutions instead of blame.
  10. Positive discipline always communicates with the intention of love.
