April
April is here. Spring has arrived (I was beginning to wonder when it was ever going to get here). Flowers
are blooming all over campus and the smell of fresh-cut grass permeates the air. New plants have been planted
around campus. Even as the year winds down, so many things around campus are looking new again.
Lancaster Elementary, the new elementary school being built in Madisonville, is coming along well (see
for yourself at http://oxblue.com/pro/open/sttammanyparish/newschools). Barring any major construction
delays, Lancaster is on track to open for the 2011 – 2012 school year.
What month April will be! iLEAP testing kicks off April 12. Harvey Rabbit will visit campus April 27. We’ll
let our office staff know just how much we appreciate the way they keep the school humming along. And we’ll
close out the Month with Field Days for everyone April 29 and 30.
Also, PTA will host another Evening Social at school April 27. It’s another opportunity to share some
time with other parents and kids at school and enjoy a great treat, but it’s also your chance to have a
voice in your PTA. We’ll be holding the election for the executive members of the MESPTA Board (President,
Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer) that night as well. Next year will be the beginning of the
transformation of MES into a Pre-K to 1st Grade school, and the board will be facing the challenges that
come along with it. Please consider joining the board in some capacity and being a part of keeping
Madisonville Elementary the wonderful place for our children that it is.
Please feel free to contact me if you have questions or concerns. My contact information is always here in the newsletter or on
our website www.madisonvillelementary.stpsb.org/pta). See you around school!
